Under the Industrial Relations (Northern Ireland) 0rder 1992 as ammended (Articles 12A to 12E) The Certification Officer for Northern Ireland has special powers to appoint an inspector to investigate the financial affairs of a trade union but only in restricted circumstances and if there is evidence to suggest financial irregularities. There are no investigations by the Certification Officer for Northern Ireland into the financial affairs of a trade union or employers' association currently in progess.
